Become Emotionally Intelligent through a Presence Practice

Through a meditation practice, we can help our emotional system become a healthy guidance system that works in its pure form. Part of what I do in the meditation courses I created is teach how to work with our emotions. We want to acknowledge that some of the things we’re thinking, feeling, and experiencing are coming from life directly—from the things we’ve been through and the way that we think. We can change the way we think, improve our emotional states, and do so through meditation practice by becoming emotionally intelligent—present with our emotions.

We learn how to be present with whatever emotion we're feeling in that moment. We want to do that because once an emotion exists, it exists. It’s there. If you’re angry in this moment, bring presence into that anger. Through meditation practice, we sit in stillness and are fully present with whatever emotion we’re experiencing. Becoming present with the emotion gives it space, allowing us to tap into it, release it, and understand what it is and where it’s coming from.

I’ve been doing spiritual healing for over 30 years, and I have noticed, both in my work with clients and in my own life, how mental and emotional states—especially negative ones—impact the body. By becoming present with the emotions we’re currently feeling and acknowledging that they may be coming from a mental or emotional program or pattern, we can begin to improve our emotional well-being. We do breathwork, become self-aware, and allow our emotional states to just be as we breathe into the body and then breathe them out of the body. Not only does this release the stress and the emotional pattern, but it also releases whatever that emotion is doing to the physical body. The tension, the crick in the neck—those can go away if they’re coming from a mental-emotional pattern.

  • I have created an emotional intelligence meditation app

I’ve also seen that sometimes people’s emotions come from an energetic level—things most people cannot see, feel, understand, or even believe are there. I don’t have strong beliefs about exactly what’s in the energy field; I just know that there are sometimes things in our energetic field, and they do affect our emotions. They could be feeding on our emotions or influencing them. Through presence practice, we can improve our emotional intelligence, become aware of our emotions, and notice how they feel in the body—we begin to see this more clearly. How is our body being affected by our emotions? What is our body’s response to the emotions that we’re feeling? We become aware of the kinesthetic sensations, the feelings, and we become aware of how it feels around us, how that emotion feels all around our space.

We then breathe into the space around us with the intent to access that feeling and breathe it out—breathe it out of the space so that whatever is heavy can move out. You have the ability to move out heavy, dense, energetic patterns that are all around you. Sometimes there are things in the energetic field, and I don’t know where they come from. Different cultures, religions, and ideologies have different views on what these things are. I don’t know what they are or where they come from, but I do know that they can be there, keeping us stuck in negative emotional states as those states loop over and over.

So we work on our subtle energy levels as well: In a meditation, we observe how the emotion is affecting us: How does the emotion feel in the body? Where is it coming from? And through observing, we bring emotional presence to it. We breathe into the body, notice how it feels, and how it is responding. We also breathe into the energy field and notice how it responds. We can move out patterns—heavy, dense energy patterns in our human aura—that can change how we feel emotionally. When we bring emotional presence, it’s not just psychological,

We want to let that stuff go, and we can clear it out of our space. That’s why in my meditations, we address what’s happening on a mental level, on an emotional level, and on a physical level. We also address everything that’s within our spiritual aura: all the subtle body layers within the aura, the 7 major chakras, and all the minor chakras. When we can clear the space around us, we have the best opportunity to be present in life, to be autonomous in our thinking and feeling, and to feel good and have positive life experiences. We don’t want to spend our entire lives with something in our space that’s hurting who we are and affecting our emotions. We don’t need to let that happen.

Through an emotional intelligence meditation practice, we can get in touch with what’s going on within us, and we explore the nature of our emotions. We start off by simply observing. All of my teaching begins with observing and breathing—breathing into the body and breathing into the space around us. We work on clearing old patterns, healing old wounds, releasing traumas, clearing the energy field, and letting go of the voices in the head. Once upon a time, people couldn’t admit that they had voices in their head, and now we know everybody has voices in their head. The key is to determine whose voice it is. You don’t want anything in there that doesn’t belong to you—and we can clear that.

So once you begin meditating and feel something heavy in your energy system, you can do meditations specifically to clear it. Just clean it out and let all that stuff go

  • . (In my meditation app for cultivating your emotional intelligence, I provide guided meditations to work with your emotional centers as well as address your emotional states)

Whether you believe in these energetic concepts or not, it doesn’t hurt to do a meditation to clear the space around you. Let yourself be as light, free, clear, and balanced as possible so that your emotions can be a healthy guidance system you can trust. Ideally, we want to clear these things so we can have healthy, balanced lives. Having something in your space that feeds on you or distorts you is generally not healthy. We want to clear it.

If you have voices in your head that condemn you, hurt you, or block you from success, we want to clear them—and we can. We can do this through meditation. I have created many guided meditations to help you clear your mind, energy field, and emotions. There’s a whole program that works with all the different emotions we go through. We can also clear the emotional body by clearing the subtle energy systems—the auric systems. Again, I don’t have strong beliefs about exactly what these things are.

After 30 years of doing this kind of work with myself and others, I’ve simply come to accept that there are things I cannot explain. Whether I can explain them or not, we don’t want to allow them in our minds, our bodies, or our energy fields, and we don’t want them to distort our emotions—because this is our life.

Whatever these influences are and wherever they come from—whether it’s a collective pattern from the neighborhood, a generational pattern in your family, or generations of people who have had some dark spirit or heavy pattern on them—you don’t have to have that on you. You can clear it. You have the ability to do that. When we go to make these shifts and changes, resistance generally comes. When you decide to be emotionally present and present in your life, resistance will come because whatever has been feeding off of you not being in your power and not being present will want to keep feeding. That could be an energy system, a psychic parasite, an old wound, people in your life, or even an addiction. As you decide to become healthy, whole, balanced, and happy, resistance will usually appear.

That’s why I’ve created all the meditations and set up the systems that I have. They’re for anyone who is really ready to clear themselves of whatever is going on—the hurt, the wound, the trauma, the energies, the entities, the spirits, the demons, or whatever it may be. I’ve created meditations to help you move through them. I also always encourage people doing this kind of work to reach out for additional support if they feel they need it. Reach out to a doctor, reach out to a therapist. If you don’t have money or medical insurance and you’re dealing with heavy emotional stuff, most cities have mental health resources that you can access. It’s a great support system—use it if you need it.

This can be some very heavy material that people are working through. What I’m teaching is emotional presence to help you clear that, but if you do need extra help, make sure you get it and reach out to the free services that are available. You can use meditations to make small adjustments—small adjustments in your energy, your feelings, and your life situation—or you can make big, profound changes. Those changes might look like dropping big chunks of personality, letting go of addictions, healing wounds and traumas, and clearing your energy field of whatever might be in there, whatever form of psychic parasite is present.

However you choose to use meditation, I have created resources for people at every stage—whether you’re looking for small shifts or deep transformation. You can use meditation to heal, grow, transform, and live the quality of life you truly want. Thank you for participating with me. Much warmth, much love. I will see you in the next video.

I look forward to meditating with you,
