chakra & aura May 25, 2026

What are the seven chakras?  Learn about each of your major chakras, their colors, affirmations, elements, and emotional themes—from grounding and safety to intuition and spiritual connection. Learn how balanced chakras support love, self-expression, clarity, and a deeper sense of purpose.

  • In this blog, I touch on the basic qualities of each of your 7 chakras. If you would like to learn more about your chakras and have a library of guided meditations to support your spiritual journey, please gain access to the 7 Chakra Meditation app or join my meditation membership for live events, Q&A, and additional support from me.

We'll start with the 1st chakra, the base chakra. The base chakra is bright red. Its affirmation is “I am.” Its self-identification is self-preservation. Its issues are around survival, family, and belonging. It is associated with quality of life and the will to live. The demon of this chakra is fear, and its element is earth. The goals of this chakra are to feel grounded and centered in our bodies and on the planet, to feel safe in life, and to know that we belong and have a right to exist. Those are some of this chakra's goals.

Next, we move up to the 2nd chakra, the sacral chakra. The second chakra is bright orange. The affirmation is “I feel.” The self-identification is self-gratification. The issues that reside here are about our sexuality, our creativity, and expressing our emotions. Some of its qualities are really about the joy of life, the joy of being, the joy of being in a body, and the wide spectrum of feelings, enjoying that process. The demon in this chakra is guilt, and its element is water. The goals of this chakra are about self-expression, having a healthy, free self-expression of our emotions and of our creative activity, the joy of being in a body, the joy and pleasure of sex and intimacy, healthy sexuality, expressive creativity, and the joy of being alive and being in a body.

Then we move up to the 3rd chakra, the solar plexus, which is bright yellow. Its affirmation is “I can.” Its self-identity is self-definition. It is associated with personal power and will, and the strength to take action. Its element is Fire, its demon is insecurity.  The goals for this chakra are to have high self-esteem and the confidence to pursue the things we want—the dreams we hold in our hearts—to take the steps, and to do so with confidence and trust in ourselves. Those are the qualities of the solar plexus chakra.

From the solar plexus chakra, we go up to the fourth chakra. The first three chakras are connected with our physical life. When we reach the fourth chakra, we access the 4th dimension.

The 4th chakra, the heart chakra, is bright green. The affirmation is “I love.” The self-identity is self-acceptance, and it is associated with love and compassion. The issues that are lodged in this heart chakra are really about healthy heart connections, accepting and receiving love, knowing that we are loved and lovable, and giving and receiving love openly and freely. The element of this chakra is air, and its demon is grief. The goals of this chakra are to have a healthy connection to others, human love and compassion for ourselves and for others, and a love of humanity. It is a beautiful transition point between our spiritual and physical realities, bringing a healthy balance between the two energetic systems and allowing us to experience a very full life. Those are the healthy goals of our heart chakra.

From our heart chakra, we go up to the fifth chakra. Once we are in the upper three chakras, we enter the spiritual dimensions of who we are.

Our 5th chakra is the throat chakra, and it is cobalt blue. Its element is sound. Its affirmation is “I speak.” Its self-identity is self-expression. It is about communication. Some of the issues in this chakra involve knowing and speaking our truth and being heard. The demon of this chakra is lying. The goals of this chakra are healthy communication—allowing ourselves to speak our truth, to know our truth, and to have what we say be aligned with what we are thinking, and to have our actions be aligned with what we are thinking and saying, so that we are in alignment with our values. Those are some of the qualities and goals of a healthy fifth chakra.

From the fifth chakra, we go up to the sixth chakra.

The 6th chakra is the third eye, and it is indigo in color. Its affirmation is “I see.” Its self-identity is self-reflection, and its intuition. Some of the issues in this chakra concern allowing ourselves to see clearly, be aware of what is going on, and use our intuition. The element of the chakra is light, and the demon of this chakra is illusion. The goals of this chakra are to see clearly, to see ourselves and situations from a higher perspective, and to use our intuition to bring awareness, compassion, and love. This is about universal love—the love of all things. It is about light and illumination. We work with this chakra to gain clear seeing, clear understanding, and guidance in our lives.

From the sixth chakra, we go up to the seventh chakra. The seventh chakra is the crown chakra. It is purple, gold, and white. The affirmation for this chakra is “I know.” Its self-identification is self-knowledge, and it represents our spirituality. Some of the issues in this chakra concern our connection to all things and our understanding that we are part of God and part of life. The demon of this chakra is attachment, and its element is thought. The goals of this chakra are to know that we are one with God and part of life, to recognize that we are an individual reflection of the divine, to be aware of the greater aspect of who we are, and to see life from this perspective. Those are the basic qualities of each of the chakras.
